UCL LLB Law- no response yet

I applied for UCL LLB Law but no response yet. Its already mid april. I am already a student at UCL but I am wanting to switch to law.

Was my application not competitive enough to get an immediate offer? Do you think they simply haven't gotten around to assessing mine yet?

(A*A*A + A* EPQ grades. My LNAT score for section A was 30+. Not sure about section B.)

I can’t help you, but could you answer my question? I was wondering how you went about applying for a new course? Does it require you to drop out of your current one to do so? Basically if you (god forbid) didn’t get an offer would you have your current UCL course to fall back on ? Or would you have to go one of the other 4 unis on your UCAS application?

so the first thing i would advise is go straight to the source- ask the admissions team of whatever subject you want to switch to, how you would go about it. i had to speak with various people many times to get my answer which was annoying but meant i got everything right by the deadlines.

ucas doesnt let you apply to a course in the uni you are in, if you are already enrolled in a different course. it would give me an automatic rejection by ucas. so the admissions team allowed me to put through an internal application (not through ucas).

yes, as i did the internal application i did not have to drop out and can still fall back on my course 🙂 however there was also an option to drop out- too risky imo tho.

it also depends what subject you want to switch to- subjects with standardised syllabi will probably always make you restart from year 1 (medicine, law etc) as the first years are vital. however i cant speak for other courses, and there is the existence of transferal options between courses- you would have to ask that uni and that course personally tho.

i did submit a ucas application aswell, so if i dont get in then i do always have the option to go to one of my ucas offer unis.

hope this helps
