Motivating gyg blog 2024 Bio/Chem

Hello hope your revisions are doing okay!!
I am getting anxious I won't be able to finish all of mine on time and need advice on my revision strategy because I am afraid I won't be able to do enough practice!
Predicted:
Biology: B
Chemistry: B
German: B
French: A* (native)

Target= A/A* in all (apart from german maybe)
For sciences I am freaking it out because my plan was:
- march: finish notes
-april: learn notes
-may (study leave whole of may) : practice questions/past papers

I was a bit late on making notes so I am still making some for chem/practicals whilst learning what I did (I use Anki cos I hate looking at physical flashcards (on average 50 reviews a day, I did 220 today tho))

Do you think it is feasible to get an A in sciences and 1 month is enough to do practice questions? I am freaking out because I think I will get Cs because I am not doing enough revision / and I feel like I am burnout at the same time but this is the last straight line (I am taking a gap year to recharge my batteries next year)

Any help/advice welcome and much appreciated!!

hello welcome! your plan seems solid, i'm sure you'll hit your goals with some work ❤️ gl
The one advantage sciences have over most subjects is that when the answer is right, it's right
That's what my physics teacher used to say (back when I had physics) but the same applies
Practice past papers and using a whole month for them is brilliant, but pace yourself! Blurt out information too on a page, and figure out where you have gaps on your knowledge and go back and fix that! You're doing very well to be doing 4 A Levels and getting those grades already, I know people who are getting Ds and Cs in these subjects and biology and chemistry are hard as hell!
You're doing fine, don't agonise too hard and do not set yourself unrealistic goals.
You have this!

Heya!!! I think it's very much possible to get to A's in science in a month, especially if you do enough practice questions! I definitely find practice questions and sitting practice papers are the best way that I test my understanding of topics and can reflect on that understanding and see if it needs to change! I'm only in Y12 though, so if you have any questions about the A-1 part of the Biology and Chemistry courses feel free to ask questions! But best of luck on your gyg journey!
Good luck! 🙂

Heyaa, I'm also a biochem girl in y13 🙂

You're going to be just fine dw!! The fact that you've done so much alr is a great foundation and i wouldn't be too worried about notes tbh. If you feel ur running out of time, try to learn directly from videos/textbook and just topic based questions and u should be fine! And only making notes on lengthy concepts u need to remember and will need to be able to write out in the exam. This helps me avoid burnout. I quit writing notes at the beginning of y13 tbf haha. When it gets to May, I wouldn't waste time on notes. As of rn, I'm just doing topic questions and going thru the textbook/watching vids and when it gets to May I'm just going to bang out past papers and only go through the things i get drastically wrong (hoping that won't be too many things haha).

I really think you'll do amazing dw u got this!! <333

I definitely understand you and I feel the same! It's hard to keep staying motivated when we feel burnt out all the time. For me, I took a day to spend time with friends/family and go outdoors which helped me put things into perspective. You should definitely do the same! I know that spending a day without revision/school work can be daunting especially in this stressful period but if you think about it, the benefits of that rest day will be so much better than spending hours a day stressing about revision and not getting anything effective done. So that a rest day to do something you love, I recommend going outdoors since we will be inside revising most of the time, and you will come back with a fresh mindset and more motivated I promise!!!! You've got this, don't worry!!! <33

thank you for the support !!
I think notes is something really important for me ( I am the opposite I started making notes/flashcards in year 13 when I got my ish together - year 12 was me following Ali Abdaal crap and finding out it wasn't really working for me if I didn't structure/put information into context by making notes- that makes flashcards so much easier to remember for me)
anyway we got this !!
