Dentistry BDS dental surgery requires you generally to have 7-9 in Maths and Science subjects and a minimum of a 5 / 6 in English language. It is also AAA including two from Biology Chemistry Physics and Maths (some dental schools you must have biology, others you must have chemistry). From the grades and subjects you have neither GCSE nor A-level you would have the grades for Dental Surgery. Regarding Dental hygiene or dental hygiene and therapy, with those subjects (not the D in chemistry but C biology and B sociology) you should be able to meet the requirements if you apply strategically. The diploma hygiene course at Cardiff Uni, Bangor uni and Portsmouth uni are accessible with the grades you have. If you are wanting to do a degree in dental therapy as well as hygiene the entry requirements are A-levels where one must be biology at grades AAA-BBB depending on the university. Plymouth uni offer a foundation year to progress to dental therapy and hygiene, which you could look into if you don’t meet entry requirements off the bat. I would definitely get some experience in a dental practice or even complete a level 3 dental nursing qualification/apprenticeship before you apply to dental hygiene or dental therapy. I would recommend volunteering (can be anything not just dental) and making sure you are aware of the attributes that are needed to be a dental professional (GDC scope, NHS core values). Best of luck! Applications are nerve wracking and dental school is not easy to get into, but there is always a way if it is the career for you!
