Student finance

I'm currently looking for a placement (I'm second year right now) but am yet to get one. However, I know it's coming up to the time to apply for student finance again. Do I apply for it as though I'm not going on placement and then, if I find one, then phone to tell them?

How easy it is to do this? If I wait to get one, when is the latest I can leave it before applying to student finance? What do most people do?

Hi there,

You can apply as if you're not doing the placement currently, then once you have this you can amend the application online in your account, as long as your course hasn't started. If the course has started, the change would need to come directly from the university as a change of circumstances.

hi Ross, may I use reply here to ask a question about why some parents are finding it hard to apply to assist their child with maintenance loans at the moment (due to some technical issue?) which seems to say the application has been made already?

don’t know details - one parent has not tagged in SFE but has begun a new thread here on TSR called something along lines of
‘why won’t they let us support our daughter?’
She has made a successful application in a previous year, so could there be a website issue at the moment with SFE?

If the name on the sponsors account does not match what the student has put on their application the system will not allow them to link as the details don't match.

we're aware some customers are having issues and our IT Team are looking to resolve this as quickly as possible. If you can't support an application online we would suggest completing the PFF2 Form found here https://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/2425/ft/sfe_pff2_form_2425_o.pdf and then upload this online in your account or the students, under the evidence upload option.
