Applying for accommodation at Kingston 2024

For those of you looking to join Kingston uni this September then the task of choosing your halls is one that’s probably on your to do list!

Here at Kingston there are six different halls to choose from and your decision on which one to go for is encouraged to be location based (making your life a lot easier!). For those of you based at the Knights Park or Penrhyn Road Campus looking at Middle Mill, Seething Wells, Clayhill and 71-75 Penrhyn Road is a great starting point. And if you’re based at Kingston Hill or Roehampton Vale then Walkden Hall or Chancellors Hall are the ones to have a look at. All of these halls do vary in price and if there is a specific halls that offers something you feel will be beneficial to you but isn’t recommended for your course you can still apply!

Once you’ve worked out which halls you’d like to call home for first year then you can apply for a room there when the application is live at some point in May. All offer holders will receive an email with all the steps you need to apply and a link to the portal so you can choose your room! A quick tip for those of you wanting to stay in Middle Mill is to get in their quick because it has fewer rooms then the other halls!

Things such as access needs will be important to a number of you and if you have any questions surrounding that or any questions relating to Kingston accommodation then feel free to get in touch with the accommodation team via email or phone. Contact information along with further information on each halls and their costs can be found on the Kingston University website!

I hope you’re all super excited, if you have any other questions feel free to leave them in the comments!

Hi!
I’m not applying this year but i am starting to think about what university I want to go to next year. I went to a Kingston uni open day and i really enjoyed it, but i was wondering how accommodation works after the first year? Do you keep your room or have to re-apply for it, and if you don’t keep it after the first year what options are there in Kingston for private student accommodation?? Thanks

Hi @Estrella143

It's great that you are thinking Kingston and that you enjoyed the open day! With the university halls accommodation it is prioritised for 1st year students, so most second year students go private. There is the option of sharing a flat or a house with others and then there are also options for studio style accommodation for students. There is also a really useful page here Renting privately - Accommodation - Kingston University London from the accommodation team who are available to help students find second and third year accommodation.

I hope this helps and if you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask

Hi when does the accomodation booking open, please?
Hi @Suebydoo ,

If you're joining Kingston University this September (2024), the accommodation portal should open later this month. If you've already accepted/firmed your offer with KU, you should receive access to the accomodation portal once it opens - so keep an eye out for any emails/updates! 🙃

More information on how to apply for accomodation can be found here: https://www.kingston.ac.uk/accommodation/halls-of-residence/how-to-apply/

If you have any other questions, let us know and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you. Daughter has accepted an unconditional offer. Was worried that perhaps we may have missed the email invite as it’s quite late into May.

Thanks for that! I’m sure she will. Now that the accommodation is booked I’ll leave her to get on with it 🙂
With regards to the flats it so would have been helpful to see a map of the rooms and what the letters meant. Maybe there was one and we missed it. She jjst chose randomly so no idea if it’s ground floor or first floor etc.

Hi,

I think 8 will be the flat number and A will be the room. As I stay in Middle Mill and the first letter is the block the number is the floor/flat and the letter is the room. However Seething Wells has multiple flats to a floor so I am assuming it is the number of the flat not the floor as I think there is only 3/4 floors.

I hope this helps

Hi so G is the block  8 is your floor and A is your room number. Each room has this format for room numbers to identify which room is in what block and floor 🙂
