Year 10 Work Experience 2024

I have a week off in July that my school have given me to do work experience and I’ve called and emailed so many places but they’ve all said No sorry we don’t offer work experience here” or “You have to be over 16/18 to do work experience here” or some emails that I would get back would be an automatic response or an email that didn’t answer my question about work experience. A few places did say that they would call me back but that never actually did so..

Has anybody on here done Year 10 WE and if you have can you direct me to some places where I could go and ask. I don’t mind what field it’s in as long as I can get one before my deadline. I shouldn’t have left it so late😰.

Hey, it’s great that you’re trying to get experience already, but my advice would be to focus on your GCSE results for now. Most people who want to study undergraduate med get sufficient experience during A-level times (does indeed help to be 16/18+).

So long story short you have lots of time to gather experience before applying and there’s no need to stress!

Hopefully gives you some peace of mind. If you do end up doing any experience soon, reflect on it and keep logs, will make it easier to come back to when you really need it.

Well I don’t really have a choice because my school is making me do work experience that’s why they’ve given a week off school to go to those work experience placements.

I am focusing on my GCSEs. I’m currently putting together a revision time table and plan and I’m working with one of my teachers who’s helping me in topics of the subject that’s my worst.

Thank you for your kind words and advice. I really appreciate it and I will keep what you said in mind!!

Ah I do apologise, I remember having the school-run work experience around your age as well!

I guess my only note is as I said before, so not to stress if you can’t get medical experience as you do have many more years of opportunity to come.

Perhaps look into more relaxed healthcare settings such as care homes, which are accepted by med schools as adequate experience.
