Dropping from Triple Science to Combined

With around three and a half weeks left until GCSEs, I've found myself in a position where I'm really questioning if I want to stay in Triple Science. With the amount of additional topics and content to go over I don't think that I can do well in the actual exams and I'm afraid of continuing with this pathway. I've asked my teacher if I could drop to combined but she told me that it was very unlikely due to my place already being sent to the exam board. Honestly, this is making me extremely anxious and I don't know what to do. My grades in Triple aren't too bad 7 in Bio, 6 in Chem and 5 in Physics but I feel like doing Combined is a better course for me. My A-level pathways aren't science related though so does it matter if I do change it?

It is highly unlikely, like your teacher said, that you would be able to move to combined science so I would just focus on what you can now and stop worrying about it because you won't be doing yourself any favours if you do stress about it.

unfortunately if your teacher said it's unlikely then it probably will be like that, however if you're not doing science related a levels then you should be fine with those grades in triple 🙂 good luck!

Also in combined your grades will get put together and that 5 in Physics will bring the overall score from your 7 in Biology down. Better to get that 7+ in Biology I reckon. Your grades look good, keep going :-)

You do not know for definite that you have done badly in your mocks, so there is no point in really worrying about it now. If you have done badly they move you to combined, but teachers have to consider whether you can do well in separated vs. combined. I would just wait and see.
