Sociology University options

I am a current year 12 student and it is getting to the time of booking open days etc. I want to do sociology and politics at uni or just sociology. I have mocks soo but I think my predicted grades will be around A*A*A or A*AA and at GCSE I got mostly 8s and 9s. What unis would you recommend?

Lots of options, and its worth looking beyond just 'Sociology' and sign up for subject presentations as well - you find another subject - or a 'with' or 'and' - that appeals to you. And, any course 'with placement' add enormously to your graduate CV.
Sociology, social policy and social sciences courses (bath.ac.uk)
Undergraduate courses at the University of Warwick - select 'Sociology'
Courses - School of Social Sciences - The University of Manchester
Subject area: Sociology | The University of Edinburgh
Sociology, Politics and Religion - King's College London (kcl.ac.uk)
Etc.
Hi there!

I studied Sociology at Liverpool Hope and I loved it!

Read more about our sociology course here and here you can find a link for Sociology and Politics here!
We offer many combinations with Sociology so check the tab 'combinations' to see more!

I hope that helps!

hi! I’m also interested in studying sociology and politics. The unis I plan on applying for are Bristol, Warwick, Birmingham, Sheffield and Leicester but I’m open to other options! I’ve visited Bristol last year, it was a beautiful city and university, but did not manage to go to a sociology talk. On the complete university guide it is top ten for sociology and I think also politics which is another reason for me to apply. Warwick is also quite high up on the league table as well for both subjects! The other unis I plan on visiting this year, if you are interested in them but don’t end up going to an open day I can tell you what I found out about them!

It’s so nice to see another person interested in studying politics and sociology or just sociology on its own at uni, as I don’t see many people interested in it! If you want we could personally message and talk about super curricula’s we recommend each other or any other uni recommendations we find?!

I would also recommend on potentially looking at Cambridge for HSPS, your grades are amazing for a uni like Cambridge. I know that there is some sociology in this degree as well as politics!

Hiya!

I currently study Health and Well-being in Society at De Montfort University. This is an undergraduate degree and is a mix of Sociology and Psychology. I love studying this course, and I thought it might be worth mentioning as it features Sociology components but also looks at Public Health, and there is also a Debates and Dilemmas module. I had not heard of this course before until someone from DMU pointed it out - here is the link to it on our website incase you are interested 🙂

We also have Undergraduate courses in Social Work, Politics and International Relations and Human Resource Management (some subjects which I think may feature Sociology and / or Politic components)

I hope this helps, and the best of luck!
