Is prestige actually important?

I have applied for the same course Medicinal Chemistry MChem in Uni of Liverpool, Glasgow, St. Andrews. I understand there is a great difference in prestige, but I feel like I would prefer Liverpool over the others, but I am stumped on what to choose as my firm and insurance choice.

Grade requirements:
St A - AAA
Liv - AAB
Gla - ABB

“Prestige ranking”
1. St A
2. Gla
3. Liv

Lifestyle preference:
1. Liv
2. Gla
3. St A

I know I will enjoy where ever I go but Liverpool seems more affordable and it’s only a 4 year course rather than 5 years. I’m not sure what to pick for firm and insurance - I haven’t got St A offer back yet and I’m conflicted on what to do if I am rejected cause Glasgow seems like a better uni but it has lower grade requirements.

Go with lifestyle over prestigue every time. A happier student means a better quality of degree achieved. Which is more important than where you did the degree, for employers.

Honestly, go for Liverpool as that is where your heart is.
It can be justified on head as well as heart criteria if you look up QS subject rankings 2024 for medicine ( close enough to medicinal Chem.!)

I don’t even know I suppose it’s related to how unis are perceived based and respected, and rankings.

HI, the point I was making is that for medicine, the QS global rankings for this year appear to rank Liverpool Medical School higher.
However, if for your subject St. Andrews ranks significantly higher,
then would understand why you might prefer to choose there instead.

International fees are high and it is understandable that rankings inform your decision if you are an international student. All employers will consider the class of degree you graduate with, so the point made above about going where you will thrive and succeed is a very pertinent one.
