Do you need to know Acylation mechanism for A level OCR chemistry ?

Do you need to know how to draw all the Addition-Elimination Reactions for OCR A level chem or do we just need to be aware of the reaction and products ?
Thank you

For Friedel-Crafts you need to know:

1) the equation for the formation of the acyl cation
2) the reaction mechanism
3) the equation for the reformation of the catalyst
4) the overall reaction equation and catalyst

Sometimes you will have to do all of it at once, which is in my opinion a relatively simple 4 mark question, and sometimes parts of it are filled in and you might draw an intermediate for example.

I looked for some ppqs on this, 20(a)(iii) on the 2022 paper 2 and 19(b)(iii) on the 2019 paper 2 might be useful to look at (:

hiya, thank you so much for taking your time to do that, really appreciated ! However, I'm so sorry I'm not sure why I said acylation, but I was more wondering about the nucleophilic addition-elimination reactions like between:

acyl chloride and water reaction

acyl chloride and ammonia reaction

acyl chloride and alcohol reaction

acyl chloride and primary amine reaction

ahhh! for those you just need to know the reactants and products afaik

i could see how it could come up in a unified paper, but i would imagine they would lead you in the right direction in that case
