Psychology with BBB

Hi guys,

what good unis can I get into in the uk with a predicted BBB for psychology? Any Russell groups? I have already applied to 5 unis and heard back but am not fully satisfied with my offered at Nottingham trent. I was thinking of trying for Manchester and Nottingham during extra/clearing. Any Russell groups that will accept BBB? i heard during clearing/Extra the grade requirements drop.

The chances of top Unis having Psych places in Clearing are essentially zero - and certainly not with requirements reduced to BBB.

If you dont want to go to any of the Unis where you have an offer, then step back and rethink things.
You can cancel your application at UCAS, plan a gap year and take some time to think about what you want to do - and why.

Loughborough was in clearing for Psychology last year and if I remember right was either ABB or BBB but it was defo in clearing with a reduced offer, maybe given admissions a call and ask.

Yep they were in clearing last year at Loughborough for BBB. Hopefully this link will work, if not go onto What Do They Know.com - authorities - Loughborough Uni and then search clearing and it’s one of the top threads.

Just remember that 'what was in Clearing last year' will not tell you anything reliable about what might be in Clearing this year.

It was in clearing 22 also. Agreed it isn’t a staple, but it may be an indicator. Always worth ringing admissions and asking

with respect, was there a reason for BBB? As without it there appears to be a disconnect between what you WANT and how you have performed.

As the rolling stones put it.......you cant always get what you want, honey

In all honesty, for the best psychology jobs you’ll want a masters degree. Don’t worry about this for undergrad, but for postgrad, if you get at least a 2:1 in undergrad, you should be able to do a masters at a russell group. My brother did this, maths at Aberystwyth and now studying his masters in AI at University of Leeds.

Try some universities such as Bath Spa, UWE, Sussex, Plymouth, Lancaster, Edge Hill, etc.

i got a offer from Aberystwyth!! however i think i might firm Nottingham Trent as they are the only place out of my offers that is allowing me to pay home fees. im half Britsh and don't currently live in the uk so i was scared i was gonna have to pay international. How has it like Aberystwyth?

if you have to say with respect, there is not respect. I was diagnose with clinical depression, my brother died, my father cheated on my mum and my family split up. Considering all of that I think a BBB is really not that bad? Don't you think? There is nothing in the world that possesses you to be so cruel to other people. There is no reason for you to be backhanded, snobbish, stuck up and rude. Have some empathy for the people around you.

So sorry to hear what you’ve been through at such a young age- BBB is amazing even at the best of times.

This forum is mostly, not all, used by high achievers and somewhere along the lines A*s have become the benchmark - blame Michael Gove. Don’t give it a second thought, do what’s right for you and good luck.

How else would you ask someone why they haven't achieved the required grades? without specific context you just sound entitled and demanding.

Its not analogous with saying "no offence". You're asking for a lot with zero context then trying some faux shame tactics on people. Perhaps knowing this information would help with appeal.

read my post I did not “demand” for anything? Just simply asking for suggestions??? How is me asking for advice for uni entitled?? Do you even know the meaning to those words? A BBB is consider pretty average. Plus I don’t take a levels I take the Ian which is quite literally double the work of a levels. So if you want to be technically I have a astar, astar, A, B, B, B . But the uk will only accept higher levels. So I simply just translated it the best I can. You act all rude and “entitled” yourself??? So you go to Oxbridge??? I never complained about my current post Orion. I just simply said that I was not fully content with my offer at a specific uni nothing else. Sorry that your life is so ******* miserable that you have to attack random ppl on the internet and rub it in their face that they aren’t “overachieving”. Go **** yourself

Did you create this account just to be abusive?

I suggest you read what I actually typed, not what you wanted to hear and be offended by.
With such an attitude, you're going to find the world quite difficult. Studying psychology and misinterpreting statements based on personal feeling is going to be interesting in the very least.

good luck!

My apologies I am in a sensitive positive as you must imagine. There is no need to be passive aggressive yourself. Yes I re read what you wrote. You initially wore a backhanded comment. Did you not? Yes you did. So I simply replied asking you to be empathic that’s all.

Hi,
Whilst Lancaster might not be a Russel group university, it is a top UK university. The grade requirements for Psychology at Lancaster are AAB, however there is a contextual offers scheme which can reduce this by up to 2 grades, so this might be worth considering. I'll attach some links below with some more info.
Lancaster's psychology course - Psychology BSc Hons (C800) - Lancaster University
Contextual offers - Contextual offers - Lancaster University
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Lancaster also provide the doctorate, it is well respected in psychology.

You can potentially get in Leicester for Psychology with BBB but they sometimes ask for ABB. Not Russell Group but well ranking for some subjects (particularly History, Archeology, Modern Languages, Medicine, and English).
Essex (also not Russell Group) don't ask for more than BBB for it.

They both have research quality of 83% for this subject, which is equal with Bristol and Reading and above Nottingham, Leeds, Lancaster, Durham, Newcastle, Bath. As a university in general for all subjects, Leicester is a top 30 university for research quality on 82%, equal with two of the Russell Group for that, Newcastle and Queen's University Belfast. For research intensity in general for all subjects, Leicester is equal with Birmingham and Reading on 63% and above Liverpool, Cardiff, Warwick, Glasgow.

Leicester's general and on track graduate prospects for this is higher than at Essex. In fact, Leicester's on track prospects for this is higher than Birmingham, Newcastle, Reading, Liverpool, York, Exeter, Cambridge, Kent, Lancaster, Edinburgh, Nottingham, Manchester.
