Student advice for choosing your firm and insurance universities wisely

Hi, I'm Mamtaz and I'm in my second year of studying LLB Law. Here is my advice on making the right choice for your firm and insurance universities. 👇

While having so many choices might seem like a great thing, at times, it is not. Choosing the right option may feel like rocket science, requiring you to research and consider different universities, and consult with your loved ones. As someone who has been in the same shoes as you, I understand the dilemma that arises when making such a significant, life-changing decision.

Research extensively
As Anton Chekhov said, “knowledge is of no value unless you put it into practice”, especially when choosing your firm and insurance choice for university. Research the university, its ranking, its reviews and especially what you want to obtain from that university, whether it is the course or student life there.

Utilise the university website and league tables, attend open days, and speak to current or alumni students to gain first-hand insight. The more you know about your choices and what you expect from them, the better prepared you will be to make a choice you won’t regret.

Seek input from your support network
Whether you are moving away from home or staying at home during university, change can be difficult. Do not hesitate to get advice and support from loved ones when choosing your firm and insurance.

If you have family members, friends, mentors or teachers who went to university, they might be able to share their thinking process when making their choices. However, remember that while other people’s views can be useful, the final decisions must be yours.

Trust your instincts
While research and advice may be crucial tools in making your choice, do not forget your instincts. Our senses and feelings often tell us what we truly want and desire, and it is crucial that we do not ignore this fact.

If a particular firm or insurance choice resonates with you on a personal level, it is most likely the right decision for you. Listen to your inner voice and give it value in guiding you in making a choice that you will be happy and confident with.
