Failed a 2nd Yr module

I got this one module in 2nd year that I basically have nothing for. If I just don't hand in anything I will obviously fail the module. But what happens after. Can I do a resit of that one module next year. Will I have to resit the whole year???

How does it work?

No answer to this apart from consult you uni's academic regs immediately. Or seek advice from the SU or your programme administrator.

Hey there,

I understand your concern about the module in your second year that you're struggling with. It's important to address this situation sooner rather than later to avoid any potential complications down the line.

The best course of action would be to reach out to the module leader or your personal tutor for guidance. They can provide you with specific information about the options available to you, such as whether you can re-sit the module or if there are any alternative pathways to consider.

At the University of Salford, we're fortunate to have personal tutors who are there to support and guide us through academic challenges like this one. I'd recommend looking into similar resources at your university, such as academic advisors or student support services, who can provide assistance and help you navigate the next steps.

In many cases, failing a module doesn't necessarily mean having to re-sit the entire year. There are often opportunities for resits or retakes, allowing you to focus on the specific areas that need improvement without having to repeat the entire year.

Remember, it's important to address this issue proactively and seek the support you need to find a solution that works for you. Don't hesitate to reach out to university resources for assistance, and I'm confident you'll be able to overcome this challenge and continue progressing in your studies.

HI there,

It is different at every university so I would make sure to contact your university help team as soon as possible so they can help you with this.

You should also contact your personal tutor or academic advisor if you have one of these as they are the ones who can help you with issues like this. Explain your situation to them and see if they have any advice for you, or they may be able to point you in the right direction of who to speak to about this.

You could also contact the tutor of the module that you failed and see if they know anything about resitting this. It's worth a try as they may know the answer.

Failing this model may not mean you have to resit the whole year as there may be an opportunity for you to just resit that one module and get the grade you need in it. You potentially will have to do this next year, or sometimes you have to do it over the summer or after everything else is handed in.

Make sure you reach out to your university as soon as you can as they will be able to help you with this and if it just then module you need to resit, it is worth finding out when you have to resit this as it could affect any potential plans you have over summer so it is better to be prepared.

I hope some of this helps,

All things considered, this is a very good outcome. Best to avoid these situations if at all possible though!
