How do I help with motivation

I need to revise a lot more than I currently do, but I just have no drive for it. I think it’s because I spend too much time on Instagram, because of the quick dopamine hits, but I don’t know. How do you find the motivation to do revision, when you literally couldnt care less?

Bro just lock in, But seriously keep your phone away from you and even give it to your parents during mock period if your that tempted and don't watch it as soon as you wake up because then everything else will seem boring, have a mindset to finish your goals, download flora which helps you stay on track for a set amount of time and otherwise a tree dies, its a fun way to keep yourself focused and you can get your friends involved, Gl for your exams!

Dear @username6937616

I hope you are doing well!

I stumbled upon this post and I thought I will share my two cents as I was in the same boat during my exams couple years ago. The one thing that helped me revise is having a set plan and sticking to it (the sticking to it is hard bit but trust me after few days you will get used to it). 🤭

Dedicate certain time for entertainment: I had two hours set in afternoon and during meals wherein, I will watch a movie, netflix, scroll through instagram, etc.
Don't touch that phone: In morning, I made it a habit to not look at my phone and just get on with the day. This is the time I will typically be very energetic so I will get most of my work/studies done before afternoon so I wouldn't feel too bad for lazing around rest of the day. Keeping your phone away from the table or in a different room helps too. I still do this as every time I reach for it, I realize it is in the next room and I cannot be bothered then (most effective aha).
Declutter table and room: Helped me not feel overwhelmed. I will put our material I needed for that morning so I don't feel pressurized and skim through my revision.

I hope this can help you just a tiny bit and I hope that you can find the motivation to revise. I wish you all the very best for your exams!! You got this!! 😇

Hey @username6937616

It can be difficult to find the motivation to revise, and I find it hard to stay away from scrolling mindlessly on my phone when I have something to do too! What did help me as a student to revise was to make things a little bit more 'fun'. So I'd use Quizlet to make flashcards and help with memorising content, it was more of a 'game' I guess! There's also an app called Forest where you avoid distractions by planting a virtual tree - as you study the tree grows, if you leave the app, to scroll on social for example, the tree fails to grow.

Could you form a study group with friends? That way you can all motivate each other, and you could arrange to do something after to reward yourself. That was another thing that helped me keep on track, I'd plan something to look forward to so it made me wanna keep going with the studying knowing I had something fun coming up!

I wish you the best with your studies! Good luck

Hi there,

You're not alone with finding revision daunting. The way I used to handle this was by creating a revision timetable for myself, allowing each subject I'm studying 15 minutes of revision at the end of the day. That way I'm reviewing each day's topics again that same day and it just helps things stick a bit better.

Definitely, try and keep your phone away from you if you can when revising! The need to scroll through instagram is ever-present but if you want good grades at the end of your course temporary sacrifices must be made. After you've revised you can always go back on your phone to reward yourself with a bit of downtime!

Good luck with your studies.

Hi there!

This is a really common problem and something I definitely struggle with at times as well! Some helpful tips I've found are:

Apps like Forest or Flora - these lock down your phone for you so you can't access apps for a time you set. This really helps if you find it's more of a habit opening instagram!

Put your phone in another room - Having your phone out of sight and out of mind really helps more than you would think.

Gather everything you need - before you start, grab everything you need including drinks and snacks so you don't get distracted getting up to get them.

Start with the hardest first - I find that starting with the most difficult bit first helps me to stay motivated throughout the day as it gets easier as the day goes on!

I hope these tips help and good luck!
