The Student Room Group

January start, changing to September start.

Hi there,
Last year I was on the foundation year for midwifery and I was in the January cohort, after I had completed the foundation year I had left the course and applied for a different course (diagnostic radiography) which starts in September 2024, I had spoken to someone over the phone who told me that I can not change this on my student finance account, does this mean I can’t go to uni in September because my tuition fees/ maintenance loan won’t be paid until January?

Thank you

Hi there,

Can you please tell us the status of your current application for Midwifery, is it showing as 'approved' or 'withdrawn'?

Thanks, Graeme

Hi Graeme,

With the university that I was with previously, my application was withdrawn and I received a certificate for that year.

However on the SFE page it shows my midwifery application and radiography application both and it says my application is incomplete for both/ doesn’t say either approved or withdrawn. Whenever I try to cancel my midwifery application in takes me back to the same page.

I have not submitted my radiography application for SFE because on the last tab of my application, it says I start January 2024 - June which is incorrect as I start in September for radiography but I was told I am not able to change that.

Thank you

Hi there. Did you receive funding for the Midwifery course? Will your new course be at the same university? Thanks, Leah.

Yes, I did receive funding for midwifery but it was only for the one year, and yes it will be at the same university.

Thanks

Hi there. You may need to apply on a paper application if you cannot do this online. Since you have left your previous course, you will be able to apply for the September intake of the new course. The intake rule only applies to the same course. You will need to apply as a new student on a PN1 application. Thanks, Leah.
