Got Red Light Penalty Notice - First Time Offender - Course Eligibility

Hi unfortunately made a mistake of going through a red light [mistimed]

Office pulled me over and said a letter would come in the post

Would I just recieve penalty points or would I have an option to take the course as I am a first time red light offender?

Have been very stressed, have made a mistake- no one's perfect

Hope someone can help thanks in advance

Depends on whether or not your local police force have signed up to the scheme, and even if they have, it's completely up to their discretion.

Unless you were behaving like a prat and doing donuts before legging it through the light, or unless the officer has an agenda against you, I'd say it's likely you'd get a course offered.

Don't be stressed - happens to everyone at some point. Just remember to take your time (and not worry what others behind you are doing!!) and look around. When I'm approaching a set of lights I always take into account, what if they turn yellow when the car in front of me is near the line? And so my foot instinctively goes over the brake (or I drop a gear 😉).

Unfortunately just missed timed as it was a temporary traffic light. First major mistake since I've got my license which was over 10 years ago. Yes nobody's perfect, hope I get the course if possible, has definitely been a learning lesson for me. Like you say, sometimes best to just slow down.

A lot better now but unfortunately was feeling very low the other day.
