Applying for loan as a child of a migrant.

Hello, I’ve been asked to provide evidence of dependency on my parents as a 21 years old. I’m applying for a loan as a child of a migrant worker.
I can only provide evidence of my dad's but not my mum because she lost her job. Can I include a letter from the Job centre as an evidence stating she currently looking for a job.

Hi there. You would use the parent which is currently in employment, not both of them.

To show your dependency on your parent. We will require evidence of your incomings/outgoings to show you aren't earning enough to live independently. We can also accept evidence of any support provided by the parent i.e. utility bills, tenancy agreement, bank statements showing transfers etc. Thanks, Leah.

hello,
Can i still apply for maintenance loan for the next academic year. I was not eligible to get the maintenance loan since i was not able to prove my dependency on my parents.

Hi there. What is your nationality and status in the UK? (e.g. pre-settled). Thanks, Leah.

I’m Ghanaian and I have pre-settled status. I will turn 21 at the start of my course. I was told I’m ineligible to get full support because I didn’t maintain dependency on my parents. I was to know if I can apply again next year if I’m able to prove my dependency

Hi there. If you aren't a UK/EU national, have pre-settled status, and not eligible to apply as a family member of an EU migrant worker, then you would not be eligible to apply for a Maintenance Loan.

You can apply as a child of a Migrant Worker in future years, if you are able to prove the dependency. Thanks, Leah.
