Physician associate

HELP! It seems like I have missed the deadline for the physician associate study in Birmingham. Does anyone know when I was supposed to apply and when applications closed :frown: any advice on what to do next would be great!
PS: I am planning to apply for 2025 since that seems like my only choice :frown: but what do I do for the rest of the year?

According to Birmingham's website, the application deadline is 30 August for 2024 entry.

It says august 2024 is the deadline hence why I didn’t rush to apply, but apparently due to the limited spaces available, applications close earlier. To allow time to do interviews etc

Try and get lots of relevant work and shadowing experience in your year out and then apply as soon as applications open for 2025 entry. Have a read through the PA applicants thread to see what this year's applicants have done:

Thank you for the advice! Do you have any recommendations on what sort of work/ shadowing would be appropriate in relation to this course?

Try to get a job in a care home. If not any public facing role will be good (retail, service sector, etc). For shadowing, approach local GP practices and ask if you can shadow some of the staff - (GP, practice nurse, etc.). Failing that, ask your local NHS Trust if there are any opportunities in hospitals.

I'd say there is no rush, use the time to build up sufficient savings as the course is pretty intensive and you'll have little time to earn extra income whilst studying. Working in any healthcare/patient facing role (for example a healthcare assistant) would be great, allowing you to build on/improve on ever so important interpersonal skills. This will also put you ahead of other candidates during interviews.
