For law you might need to lean on doing well in the LNAT for Oxford as they're somewhat more GCSE heavy generally than Cambridge, although both will consider them (for either course). Note that a law degree and an English lit degree are very different!
Depending on your specific interests in literature you may also want to consider ASNAC at Cambridge if you're very interested in medieval literature (and learning medieval language(s)). The English courses at each are also different enough that you'd probably decide based on your preferences rather than either uni's attitude towards GCSEs I would imagine.
