They offered me a different course..

This year, I have applied for the Modern Foreign Languages course at University of Birmingham. I wanted to study both Japanese and Spanish, but mostly Japanese as I wanted a career out of it. The university gave me a conditional offer which stated that although I could not get the course I wanted to get, they would be more than happy with me studying Spanish (only Spanish) as a 4 year course.. What should I do? Could I ask for an explanation as to what made them decide this? Or maybe (if their Japanese & Spanish course is full), could I switch to Japanese and French? I'm stressing out...
