I’m not sure what to do to stand out when applying for university.

I want to apply to top universities in London so that I can study accounting. My top universities at the moment are universities like LSE, Queens Mary, Kings college etc. But I’m not sure what to do other than getting the grades. What should I do to stand out??

Go to each of their Open Days in the next few months - and ask them what they want to see in a Personal Statement.

Here is basic advice from Bath - Writing your best Personal Statement (bath.ac.uk)
and Durham - Writing a Personal Statement - Durham University
And relevant reading etc from Swansea - Undergraduate Accounting and Finance Reading List - Swansea University

I wouldn’t recommend trying to stand out. Generally the applications that stand out are the particularly bad or inappropriate ones.

Find out what the courses involve in detail (from websites, open days) and what research the department staff are working on. Then find out more about the topics that they teach and research in your own time with a focus on things that you find genuinely interesting.
