If the spring were cut into two pieces of equal length and both portions of the spring were used in parallel, what would be the period T_2?

Not sure how to approach this problem, as i thought that in part B it is T/ sqrt(2) therefore T_2 is sqrt(2)*T. But thats wrong now i dont know how to do it

When you cut the original spring you make 2 springs that both have twice the spring constant of the original.

when you combine 2 identical springs in parallel you make a new spring with twice the spring constant of each spring used to make it.

so in part B the spring constant has been doubled one time

and in part C the spring constant has been doubled two times

when you combine 2 identical springs in parallel you make a new spring with twice the spring constant of each spring used to make it.

so in part B the spring constant has been doubled one time

and in part C the spring constant has been doubled two times
