Uni of Sheffield accommodation

Hi I am hoping to go to Sheffield to study geography and was looking at the accommodations but all the ones listed for me to choose are mainly in Ranmoor and I was hoping to stay in Endcliffe. The only ones I've got in Endcliffe are Cresent/Crewe Flats, Rivelin, Lawrencefield or Stanage are these accomodations good? I am unsure whether to go shared bathroom or ensuite. Does anyone have any advice about living in these blocks or is one block more social and better situated than the rest?

It seems like it but I would definitely check every day Or two if you want a very specific one

Would you recommend ensuite or shared bathroom as that is mainly the foundation of my decision for accommodation but I can't decide if the ensuite is worth it as it is only a wet room.

I love a bit of privacy, so personally I would. I think they said 80% of rooms are Ensuite (at endcliffe). If you’re fine sharing a bathroom then it’s maybe worth the money saving. I saw a typical Ensuite and it isn’t massive but having a toilet in your room is nice. Not really the end of the world either way.

How often would you recommend checking back to see whether they have released more accom in Endcliffe?

I checked at the end of each day and morning . The room I got appeared on a random Thursday afternoon.

Hi,
It depends on your preferences. Some people are happy to have a shared bathroom, others aren't.
Which accommodation are you looking at?
Having an ensuite, means you don't have to wait for anyone or have anyone waiting for you. If you are someone who likes to have really long showers in the morning then you might prefer to have an ensuite so you don't have other people wanting the showers at the same time. If you aren't particularly fussed and are happy to wait or adapt your routine around others (you might already do this at home) then it might be worth saving some money and having a shared bathroom.
Having an ensuite can also be helpful for other things, for example if you regularly dye your hair or if you go hiking a lot and need somewhere to hang a very wet coat. What hobbies are you into?
Talk to the people that know you, and see what they think. They will be able to give you advice that is specific to you.
You could also try to create an example budget for when you are at Uni and then use that to help decide. You might prefer to spend the money saved by having a shared bathroom on something more fun, and that makes it worth it. Or you might realise that you have the budget to do what you want to do at uni and would prefer an ensuite.
Whilst a lot of people will have an ensuite during first year, if you then move to a student house, normally people then have to share bathrooms. All of my friends have found this to be an alright thing, none of them have had any major issues, so don't be too scared of sharing if you think that's a better option.

So I guess the best thing is to keep checking?

My friend literally just got a room in yarncliffe, so I guess they must be releasing more since the self selection ends in more than a month.

The accommodation gets released in waves so there is plenty of time to pick a room. There is also guaranteed accom for every applicant who firms Sheffield. When I was applying, I was able to view rooms up until August so I would not worry at all.

Good luck with your application and let me know if you need anything else
