Independent student student finance advice

Hi there

I am considering applying for Veterinary medicine at Harper Adams and Keele for 2025 entry.

Are there any current mature students on this course that could advise on student finance eligibility (as a second degree)

Many thanks!

Hi Donna,

Will this be at a full or part time level and what's the highest qualification you hold? Thanks, Jason

Hi David,
Undergraduate 5 years course.
Thanks

Thanks Donna. For this, if you already hold a degree and are looking to start this course you would only be eligible for Maintenance Loan, Grants and Disabled Student Allowance if applicable, you would not be eligible for Tuition Fee funding. Thanks, David

Thanks David. Much appreciated. Do you still offer a Maintenance grant/ special support grant alongside the maintenance loan?

I will be an independent student living with my mum during my studies and working part time to fund living costs. I have two children aged 13 and 16 years old. I am working full time at the moment.

Many thanks

Hi there,

We don't offer a Maintenance or Special Support Grant, but we do offer a Special Support Loan, which is a higher Maintenance Loan.

Since you have children you may also be entitled to grants, specifically the Parents' Learning Allowance (PLA) and the Childcare Grant (CCG).

This calculator can give you an idea of what funding you may be entitled to.

Thanks, Graeme
