Which route to becoming media lecturer at university?

I am about to embark on postgraduate studies. I am confused at which route to take. The eventuality is a PhD once securing work at a university with an MA of arts.

I don’t know which MA to study. I have a BA hons Media and Communication. Do I continue down the media route with my post grad or do I apply to an MA Education?

I could really do with some advise. Not sure what my next step should be.

Thanks in advance

Take a look at the career path of people who already are media lecturers. I suspect many will have substantial careers in the sector and/or PhDs in English/Communications/Media subjects. There's probably quite a diverse entry route.

Thank you for this. Sorry for the delay.
I doubt there's much demand for media lecturers so this might not be the best option OP. You could become a visiting tutor and then try to secure a full time position later on?

Hello Belinda,

I hope you are well.

Media and Communication is a very wide subject, so you may have to narrow down what would you like to study in the future. At Cardiff Met, students who graduated from Media and Communication will choose the pathway such as MA Specialist Journalism and might progress to doctoral level studies. Graduates from our MA Specialist Journalism programme are now working in the professional media industry with Future Fusion New York, Cardiff City FC, Dead Press and GTFM Radio. You can find some information here: MA Specialist Journalism Masters Degree Course - Cardiff Metropolitan University.

This is just an example for you but let us know if you have any questions via [email protected].
