When should I start revising for year 10 mocks?

My mocks start on the 27th June and end 5th July. I want to do well on them, but I also know that it’s not the end of the world if I don’t get the grades that I want. But I don’t know if I should start revising now, or wait until mid-May.

Here are my predicted grades and subjects I’m taking:
physics - 5
biology - 8
chemistry - 7
geography - 6
french - 4
maths - 6
computer science - 6
english lit - 7
english lang - 7

thank you

Well if you have time currently, do start some slight revision, maybe a half hour/hour per day, and when you start getting closer to the date you could start doing maybe an hour or more. if you want to get better grades in certain subjects focus more on those etc. basically you could start doing a bit now and increase closer to it, but don't worry too much- you won't remember these mocks next year.

Hi @annvyah,

I think it's never too early to start revising for mocks. There's no harm in starting early and gradually preparing bit by bit- you don't necessarily have to revise for hours upon hours as of now, you can simply just do an hour just to get you into the flow.

It could be a good idea for you to go through your specification points and treat it like a check-list. If you start now you can progressively go through all those topics at a steady pace.

Let me know if you'd like any revision tips, all the best

heyy!
I'm currently doing my y10 mocks at the moment, and I'd say start as soon as possible. As others have said, for a couple days you can start with 30mins to an hour, and do a bit more each day. And if theres a subject/topic you struggle with the most, make sure you start with this. So at this stage I think making all your resources is a good start as they're the most time consuming (at least for me they were!) and just keep reviewing these frequently. Then just do as many exam questions as you can to familiarise yourself with the structure of your answers and stuff.

And yh just to summarise, make sure you start early!! I didn't give myself enough time to revise everything, as it took me longer than i thought so I need to basically cram everything in this weekend (which I deffo don't recommended btw)

Hope this helps and good luck!!

Heyyy what exam board are you doing cause i have mocks pretty soon and i've started revising but I can try and help. Btw I've absolutely forget AQA Geography apart from Coasts and OCR CS is my best subject.
Btw for now do what works for you. Either spend each day dedicated to 1 or 2 subjects or do like pomodoro where you spend 30 - 45 minutes on 1 subject take a break and then do another subject. Also for pomodoro, don't completely stop yourself if you haven't finished revising - like finish the part your learning and then move on otherwise your just reading a book without finishing a chapter. Maybe for each topic/ notes you take, turn them into question/answer flashcards so then you can actively question yourself ( active recall), rather than just re reading notes.

if you want accurate predicted grades (assuming theyre based on your mocks) i would start a month before. i wont lie, i only started revising a month before my actual gcses (IN TWO WEEKS!!!) so no need to go overboard just yet. but if theres content that seriously needs LEARNING and not revising then maybe start lowkey about 6 weeks before.
