Student fee if resitting a failed module.

Hey,

So I am currently in my second year of Uni and I wanted to know incase I fail a module and also fail the resit in August. I will have to retake that module next year but how will the finance work out. Would I have to pay the full tuition for that year which is £9,250?
This really depends on what the outcome of is of the two fails and what your uni policies are will shape that outcome.

If you are allowed to progress to the next year but need to take the module alongside your other third year modules, then you wouldn't normally be charged extra tuition and the SFE process would be the same as any year.

If you're not allowed to progress to the next year then presuming you aren't withdrawn from the course, you would either have to repeat the year or just take that single module during a repeat year. In the former case you would certainly pay the full tuition fees etc. In the latter case it would probably be up to the uni what tuition fees they charge - but note that regardless of the amount, this would still count as a year of funding from SFE for funding entitlement purposes (so would use up your "gift year" of SFE funding in either case).

Some programmes may also only permit a certain number of attempts for certain assessments so may not allow you to repeat further if you fail the initial and resit attempt though.

I'd suggest discussing with your personal tutor as they will be able to advise you on specifically how it works in your programme.
