ib subjects for psychology??

hi!
I have had loads of uncertainity with wtv I wanted inthe future and went with dentistry @ first but now im thinking of doing psy instead... I have HL: chem, bio, history and SL: maths aa, english A, french B
I've heard that english HL is taken usually for improvement in essay writing, but what if I'm pretty confident with my history analysis skills? is it enough? I'd love some feedback!! thank you!!! also, I'm an international student so it will be a bit of a pain with finding a good uni but I'll hopefully get there

hello!
I'm doing the IB but not going into psychology myself, I have a friend who is. I know a lot of schools don't offer psychology, including ours, but you can do SL psychology online through pamoja. It isn't easy though, it is a lot of self directed learning and self discipline but still doable. I would recommend talking to your IB coordinator and counselors if you haven't already, I think doing taking sl psychology could help your application a lot. Other than that, as mentioned earlier I am not the most qualified to answer this but I hope I helped a tiny bit

best of luck!

Your IB subject combinations are perfectly fine. Not all IB schools offer Psychology, so you would not be expected to present Psychology as a subject requirement.

Have you considered which universities you may want to apply to? Check carefully what each of the universities are asking for. I am at UCL and UCL has raised its subject requirements for BSc Psychology 2025/6 admission. It is asking for TWO subjects from Bio, Chem, Physics, Math and Psych. (You already qualify with your HL Chem and Bio). One 7 and one 6, which can only mean min 766 for total of 19.

hi I do psychology HL and am going to study psychology at university this year.... since lots of schools don't even offer psychology the course starts out very basic in first year uni, it won't matter at all what subjects you're doing at the moment, you just need to make your perosnal statement sound like you really interested in psychology.. other than that you don't really need anything else.

It depends on which university, tbh. I wouldn't consider UCL's first year to be "basic". It can be a struggle for those without Psych background although not impossible. So, I would say it depends.

hey, I have looked through since then, and yeah my combination looks pretty fine. Hopefully I can elevate my bio and chem to a steady 6 because it still kind of iffy. I really would love to study at King's or Edinburgh 🙂 I still have time for improvement in my mocks right now and that should be my last chance to make a strong profile. Thanks for your advice tho, sorry I saw it very late ,I forgot my password here.
