University or Apprenticeship?

Hey, so I am trying to figure out what to do and it would be useful to hear if someone has been in a similar situation or has any advice.

Well, I applied for uni last year, deferred my application and within that time, I’ve gotten an offer to do an apprenticeship. I’d be put on a waiting list until a vacancy comes up, which apparently could be soon.

The issue is the uni application. I’ve booked my accommodation (UC) and I’m also doing a foundation year. I did apply for Sfe too but I know I can cancel the application.

I thought about going into uni and doing the first two years and then joining the apprenticeship (for the experience, as I have applied for a healthcare course and I have placement during the first year); as I doubt I could join the apprenticeship right now, considering how far I am now with my uni application. I’ve paid the deposit for my accommodation already and my move in day is booked.

I can’t defer my entry again (I think) because I’ve already done it once, but I’d honestly rather do the apprenticeship.

But I like the location of my uni. The apprenticeship I’d be going on would be closer to home and I would like to live independently.

I’m pretty sure the apprenticeship would start at lvl 2 and go up from there, which makes me think it’s better to at least go to uni and potentially aim for a lvl 3/4 apprenticeship, if it works that way. In all honesty, I’m not sure what to do.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated atp😅

a level 2 apprenticeship isn't really anything great and if anything you would gain more out of going uni and then aiming for a higher level apprenticeship whilst out of uni and then dropping out when u get an offer

I didn’t quite get which lvl they were talking about tbf, so I might be wrong about the lvl but I’ll be able to speak to them again. I think it was a level 3 (when I looked back but I think I should still ask them if I get the chance). But yeah I agree with what you’re saying. In that time I’d already have my degree. Thank you for your response!
