Disabilities and Drama School

Hey everyone,

I have accepted a place to study the MA ATP at Central and whilst I am extremely excited I am also filled with intense anxiety for one reason in particular. My undergrad experience has been amazing, I've been in a small department with a really diverse group of people. During my undergrad, I was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease and I manage with medication etc. RWCMD (where I did my BMus) have been wonderful at supporting me and they have also put lots of systems in place to make sure my course is accessible. I have also recently learned that I am autistic and this is where my anxiety lies. I know that Central will be good at helping me with my genetic disease related disability however I am concerned about walking into a predominantly neurotypical setting and detaching myself from who I am in order to fit in.

I suppose I am asking if anyone has had experience of support accessible at Central? And if anyone has any advice at all about how to cope?
