Firm and insurance choice at the same uni?

I applied to the same university twice for the biomedical sciences course, one with an integrated masters and one without. This was my top choice uni, hence why I applied twice. I got an offer for both, so I was wondering if it’s okay to firm the higher offer (AAB for integrated masters) and pick the lower offer (ABB) as my insurance.

I’m pretty confident that I can get at least ABB in my exams, but if I don’t get AAB I assume this would cause an issue with accommodation? Since you can only apply when you’ve chosen the offer as your firm choice. And also whether this is allowed on UCAS?

You can switch to the integrated masters while you’re there if you achieve the required grades in your course, and you can also switch to the regular BSc course from the masters. I’m not 100% sure if I want to do the integrated masters either way because it might be better to get a post-grad masters, so that doesn’t matter too much to me I suppose.

I am not an expert in this subject but i think it’s a bit risky to pick the same uni and same course though different pathways.

If the uni is not overly strict about offer conditions, you could pick the integrated masters and another uni.

Yes, you can do this. I've heard of other people doing the same.

The accomodation question is an interesting one. I guess it depends on whether your accomodation booking is attached to you or to your firm offer. If you miss your firm grades, it might be that the accomodation which you'd been provisionally allocated immediately goes back into the pool of available accomodation, meaning that you'd have to re-apply.

I suspect the only people who can answer this question are in the accomodation team at whatever uni this is.
Worth asking the uni if you firm the integrated masters offer and miss it, whether they’ll automatically swap you to the bachelors. Many unis do this, and it could be a way of effectively giving yourself 3 options with 2 firm and insurance picks.

Obviously irrelevant if you haven’t got other offers you’d like to insure

Alright, thank you. I’ll probably contact them on Monday to ask but I would assume that would be the case yeah.

It could just as easily be the case that the accomodation application is attached to your UCAS id, in which case it wouldn't matter whether you were accepted via your firm or insurance offer.

Definitely contact the accomodation team and see what they say.
