Transferring university - Personal Statement

Hi! I am currently in first year (University of Hull) however I am thinking of transferring universities, so starting at a new university (LJMU) in Sep for 2nd year. I have contacted them and they have instructed me to apply via UCAS. (I am thinking of also applying to NTU as a backup). However, I am struggling on what to write in my personal statement for a reason as to why I am transferring. To be honest, the reason I really dislike my current uni is because the city is much much more run down than I had realised, too quiet and not much to do. I have very little friends here, not to be a negative nancy but I have had very very bad/ unlucky experiences with many people here like flatmates, 'friends' etc.. And I just don't enjoy the uni atmosphere at all. Communication between supervisors / tutors is very poor, my emails have been ignored before. The actual lectures are okay but I can't say the same for everything else. The main reason I convinced myself to go here is because me and my friend got an unconditional offer (Daft reason - I know). I can't see myself spending another 2 years here without it taking a toll on my mental health. However, I understand that I can't write this in my personal statement as I feel like it will just sound like a sob story! And unprofessional! Any tips for a personal statement when transferring?

Better to write about how the syllabus at LJMU and NTU is more aligned to your own interests. Dont be negative about the uni or the city - makes you sound like a moaner.
