Entry requirements help!

Do most uni courses require grades in specific subjects to get in? Or does it go mainly on ucas points? I’d be so grateful if someone could help

It depends on the uni concerned. Most leading unis go on grades and subjects. Lower graded unis sometimes base things in ucas points, Check the entry requirements they will tell you.

Some will use UCAS points, some will specify grade requirements. It's up to the university.

Some may also add additional requirements like getting a certain grade in a subject, like you've said.

Hiya!

Entry requirements can differ depending on what course you are applying for and what university. Any information regarding entry requirements should be stated on the university website, and if you need to get in contact for any questions / and clarification; it would be best to contact the university's admissions team (again, contact details should usually be somewhere on the website 🙂 )

For example at De Montfort University if you would like to study an Undergraduate course in Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Science the entry requirements are as stated:

A Level

[*]A minimum of 96 points from 2 or more A levels, including Chemistry at grade C or above, and one other science subject from: Biology, Human Biology, Physics, Statistics, Maths/Further Maths, or Psychology at grade D or above

This is just to give an idea where a course specifies a grade in a certain subject such as at least a grade C in Chemistry. There are more details and alternative requirements regarding this course's entry requirements on the website incase anyone is interested

https://www.dmu.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduate-courses/pharmaceutical-cosmetic-science-bsc-hons-degree/pharmaceutical-and-cosmetic-science-bsc-hons.aspx#header-grid

But then some courses will only specify a certain amount of UCAS points such as Health and Well-being in Society an undergraduate course at De Montfort University where the entry requirements are as stated:

A Level

[*]A minimum of 104 UCAS points from 2 or more A levels

Again, this is just to give an idea more details and alternative entry requirements regarding Health and Well-being in Society is on the website

I hope this helps,
