Hey, I’ve also firmed Newcastle! Advanced booking is when you reserve a room (they release batches every week) and normal is when you fill out a form, then they allocate a room based on this later on in the year. You have to give your top choices as you may not get your first choice. You can only do advanced booking if you meet the new students guarantee, so it’d be best to check the website. Hope this helps!

Hi! I'm planning on going to park view but it's not on the list for accommodation reservation. Does this mean its already fully booked? Or has the university just not made it available yet? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

They release spaces every week so you have to check the portal every so often. I think they released some this morning, I booked park view as well

So basically the advance booking is if you want a certain accommodation and the application one is if you don’t mind out of three ?

Thank you

Yes that’s what i’ve gathered as well - i phoned them earlier and apparently park view is very popular so you just have to keep checking!

Hi, from what I’ve gathered, the main differences are: park view tends to be a bit more social/popular and has a common area, whereas park terrace doesn’t. Park view is also nearer the medical building, while park terrace is close to some of the other buildings (still close to medical building tho). Pricing is somewhat similar (£7 more per week for park view) and park terrace has more rooms per flat (6-11 vs 4-8).

Which one are you going for 😂, I feel like park view looks more cozy lol, but then park terrace is still nice and slightly bigger, I might have to watch some videos to try and decide lol, what subject are you hoping to go for .

I think I’m gonna go for park terrace (perfect location for me), and yh I was scouring the internet trying to find more pics and video tours. I’m doing biomedical genetics! What about you?

Yeah and it’s slightly cheaper, I’ll have to look at at more photos and videos 😂 and that’s cool, I’m doing English literature! Did you pre-book your accommodation by the way, I don’t know what people normally do

Ah that’s an interesting course! Yeah, I’m trying to do advanced booking since that’s how most of the rooms are chosen. Then if I can’t get one by the deadline I’ll just have to do it the normal way. It’s so stressful tho ngl, I’ve been checking 2/3 times a day

I know, I only firmed my offer the other day, so just been looking at accommodation recently, I just can't decide lol, im guessing Newcastle is your firm choice

Reply 15

I did ucas extra cos I rejected my med offer, so Newcastle’s kinda my only option😅but yeah firmed in the half term

Reply 16

aww no, where did you want to go and Newcastle looks good to be fair, the buildings are pretty lol, its a big city though

Reply 17

Ah lol, sorry I phrased that badly 😅 Newcastle is my dream uni so I’m rlly lucky I got accepted even after that, but yh it would suck if not having an insurance choice messed w me (doing partners tho so unlikely). Yeahh, I like how green it is aswell (saw loads of parks when I visited) so it’s a city but pretty chill. Only thing I’m worried about is that it’s apparently party central

Reply 18

Ahh I got it and yeah same, hopefully we get into Newcastle and I’m doing partners too and yeah there’s a cool jesmond park or something and yeah same lol, I’m not really a party or busy person, I’ll probably go out sometimes, but yeah, I’m sure will be fine
