Children’s nursing glyndwr wrexham

Hiya.
I’m looking at trying for my children’s nursing for September 25 intake. I believe they only take 15 students a year. All my working life I have worked with children. I’m now working with the health visiting team which I have been for 5 years I’m 38 and have a level 5 diploma as well as completing the access course. Does anybody know what the interview was like and how likely with my experience and knowledge it is to get in x

Hey, :hello:

With your experience and knowledge you you will be a great children's nurse as you already have so much experience and understand what it is like to work and look after children.

If it is an option for you to apply for other universities i would attend their open/answer days to be able to look around and expand your chances of getting into a university to study children's nursing.

Interviews can be daunting however, they mainly want to know about your experience and why you want to study the course. To find out more and top tips for a health interview please follow this link: https://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=7418316

I hope this helps and good luck

Hi @Bethanboo2009

Please accept my apologies for our delayed response. It's great to hear that you are considering/were considering studying Children's Nursing at Wrexham University!

I'm currently a 2nd year childrens nurse at Wrexham University, through my experiences so far I have found the course has been amazing!

With your skill set that you have gained from your previous experiences you have a great chance - if you haven't already got it! Additionally don't let the fact that you're a mature student returning to education stop you achieving your dream job!

There are many mature students returning to education with or without children; some of the students at Wrexham University have shared what it's like to be a mature student and I've attached this blog below - whilst it may be different to your University hopefully this will help reassure you!

No matter the university you attend there will be support out there for you; if you're struggling let someone know and they'll do their best to help you. 🙂

Please see the following links for more information on applying/ the interviewing process and an in-sight into a day in the life as a childrens nurse on placement here at Wrexham University 🙂

It's amazing to be a part of a childs journey through their time in hospital or in the community. Whilst there are emotional times I found that the universities and the local healthboards support teams have been amazing. Additionally, by having de-stresses such as arts and crafts as well as playing games I have been able to relax following stressful shifts, which hopefully you'll be able to do to!

Good luck out there and if you have any questions let me know! 🙂
