Hey guys so i got into uni to do a forensic science degree and i have the choice either to do the 3y or 4y course with sandwich placement and idk what to pick. My end goal is to be a toxicologist (preferably forensics one) and do it abroad. How do i get to that point, what experience should I get, or like are there any internships/apprenticeships that allow me to gain experience and add to my degree. Help a girl out😭

Hi @Mayaxc ,

Congratulation on getting into a Forensic Science course!
As a current final year at LSBU studying BSc (Hons) Forensic Science. I can say that I completed a 3 year course. Based on jobs that I have seen (Forensic Toxicology being one of those jobs). You should be able to get a job with a degree in Forensic Science at 2:1+. Most Forensic related jobs don't really ask for anything extra (such as Masters).

However, with that being said several universities completed specialised masters within Forensic . What I mean by that is, they look closely at one area, e.g. MSc Forensic Toxicology. So if you want to gain more knowledge within a field possibly looking at a Masters will be an option.

But like I stated, for the most part, getting a good classification in your degree, is more than enough for most Forensic Jobs.

Hope I managed to help.

Best Wishes

always choose the work experience option. even if EVEN IF it doesn't help, it's still an 'experience' isn't it?
