I am a second year Animation student at the University of Edinburgh. In first semester I failed all my courses (worth 60 credits total) - I didnt submit any coursework or show up to exams I was really going through it mentally. Student adviser told me at the time it's ok as long as I pass my resits and all my courses in this second semester. It is now the end of second semester and I know for a fact I have failed one of my courses (worth 20 credits). I am really scared now that I will have to retake the year when I want to be able to just resit everything I failed in the summer. Do you know if they will make me retake second year considering the year was worth 120 credits total and I have failed 80.
Yep, not ifs or buts, you cannot progress to third year having failed 80 credits out of 120. Even if you pass 60 out of the 80 failed credits you will not be allowed to progress to year 3.

Hi there,
I would say that the best person for you to talk to about this is your university as every university has different policies regarding things like this. I would contact your university help team as they are likely to be the ones who have the most information for you about this.
I would also contact your personal tutor/ academic advisor if you have one of these as they can help you in situations like this and explain to you what the next steps are. It's also worth keeping in touch with them regularly as they will be able to help you with your work before it gets to a situation like this.
You could also contact the tutors of the modules you have failed and see if they have any advice for you. They may be able to help you if you do have to resit the year.
It's likely you will either have to resit the year or resit the assignments that you failed during the reassessment period.
If you do have to resit the year, make sure next year you keep in regular contact with your tutors and personal tutors as they can help you of you start to feel like you are falling behind. It's also worth keeping in contact with the university well-being team too as they are there to help you in situations like this when you feel like you cannot complete your work or do it as best you can do.
Your tutors are there to help you so make sure you are taking all of the help and advice offered to you to support you through university.
