how to get to winchester school of art from southampton on a daily basis.

what are the daily travel options from Southampton to Winchester school of Art?
I have 2 offers from there but the travel time is concerning as I want to stay in Southampton and not in Winchester. If anyone could tell me how to travel and how easy/difficult it is to get there every day it would be great.

Train is quicker but more expensive (and may be less convenient depending where you’re living in Southampton) - sometimes a season ticket will be worthwhile.

Bus is cheaper but takes longer.

The university should be able to provide you with details on the rough costs, times and frequency of the options.

Thank you! Can you tell me what's the average time it takes to travel by both?
Hi @Adrija Raj

It takes roughly 25 minutes by bus. The bus is U7 and leaves from Highfield campus. This bus currently only operates during peak times. However, the Student Union is trying to get changes to be made to this to improve the frequency and reduce fares.

Alternatively there is the number 1 bus which is more frequent and this can be picked up from the city centre as well as nearer to campus. This bus takes slightly longer. Roughly, 45 minutes (slightly longer if you get on at the city centre).
You can find out more about the timetables of the buses and where they stop here:

Here is some information regarding the fares: https://www.unilinkbus.co.uk/wsa-fares
There are a variety of tickets - from day tickets to a ticket to last full academic year.

By train, you can pick up the train from Southampton Central Station or Southampton Airport Parkway station. It takes roughly 20 minutes on the train from Southampton Central Station which is slightly further. Alternatively you can pick up the train from smaller stations such as St Denys but these tend to be less frequent. From Winchester Station there is then a 10 minute walk.
The rough cost is £8.60 without a railcard (Southampton Central to Winchester). The prices are all available on the Trainline website.

Hope this helps,
