How to become a photographer?

How do you become a photographer by profession with no degree and experience? Is this recommended and stable or would you advise treating photography more as a passion in this situation until you build it up?

You don't need a degree to be a photographer, you just need to be able to take good photos (obviously) but just as importantly - you need to be super organised and good with people.

Approach local wedding photographers and ask if they need an assistant on Saturdays. Offer to do it for free the first few times, then see if they'd pay you. That's teh best way of building experience. Then you can approach studio/commercial photographers and do the same thing.
