Guy i'm supposed to be going on a date with isn't responding

I've been talking to this guy i met on tinder for a week and a half. He seems really friendly and interested. He always takes a while to respond (a few hours to a day usually). We planned to go on a date this evening when he finishes work - the plan is to park somewhere and go on a walk together to get to know each other (he planned it). I messaged yesterday afternoon saying, as a joke "hope you're not going to stand me up". He hasn't replied or viewed the message but has been online a few times since. I messaged this morning saying "are we still ok for later". Again he has been online but hasn't responded. What should i do? Should i call him closer to the time or just leave it? Should i turn up for the date and see if he turns up?

Don't turn up. If he can't be bothered to take a second to respond to a message, you should NOT go. Move on.
I would not go unless he sends some confirmation.

No. You have messaged him, so the least he can do is message you back if he wants to see you.

Up to you really.

If he has generally been slow but well-meaning with his replies I would be inclined to assume good faith and maybe try calling, but as above, you've already given him a few chances to respond so either something serious has come up or he's just gotten cold feet.

Update: he just replied saying he has food poisining and asks if we can reschedule. Only gonna assume he's acting in good faith

I say, call him closer to the time and if he doesn’t answer or get back to you then don’t show up. It would be an awful disappointment to spend time getting ready and going to meet someone who doesn’t value you or your time. If he’s planning to show up then he should let you know in advance, it’s horrible bad manners to leave you waiting like this.
