I stupidly smoked cannabis in my early teens.

more recently though, I've taken mushrooms.. which was good, much more refreshing and interesting than any experience with say, alcohol, and I intend to do them again.
Drugs are good. Pharmacology is my best physiology topic.

ive always been to scared to take shrooms. my friend wnated me to do acid, but i wouldnt do it, it seems a bit powerful, like you have absolutley no control over what you are doing, and i hate that feeling.

When doing physiology i always found it really interesting to relate a physiological concept (such as membrane potentials) with something pharmacological.

e.g. the "lethal injection" consists partly of potassium chloride, which disrupts the potassium membrane potential by making the extra cellular fluid hyperkaleamic, wiping out the resting membrane potential --> cardiac arrest --> death.

yeh I'm not sure I would do acid either.

and I know what you mean.. I did shrooms with my boyfriend because obviously I love and trust him, but I became hugely paranoid and convinced I was much younger than I actually was, and cried a lot and talked about things I remembered from my childhood but hadn't consciously thought about in years. after a while though, I snapped out of it and we had lots of fun looking at ourselves in mirrors and laughing the hardest we ever had at stupid jokes.

it was strange, not sure how I would have coped if I was with anyone but him, or if I'd taken more mushrooms.

Drugs are good, as long as you're sensible, and use them in moderation... **** getting addicted to them!

That's a good idea. i also like to put a bit of clincial in - even if just a few lines so I can see that it is worth learning (says someone thinkng of an academic career).
I've never taken any seriously illegal drugs (smoked some marijuana, yes, but nothing more). However, last week I tried some stuff that goes by the name salvia divinorum (which bizarrely is legal), which I tried before over a year ago and its only effect was a bad taste. Last week though was a different matter: it had an effect immediately. I started laughing hysterically for about 2 minutes and was completely out of it. When I regained some sense of self, I noticed that the walls were moving. It was like LSD :frown:

haha i know someone that did that, and he lost the floor, started going crazy at it, turned round and all the world was melting towards them, so he started running through town with everyone staring at him. then after bout 5 mins he realised what he was doing and just turned round and came back! it doesnt last long i dont think but i have no idea why its legal and acid and shrooms arent because salvia cant be just a powerful if its used properly.

I have never tried any drugs, even though i live in a area where majic muchrooms and Marijuana grows wild. My best buddies are all heavy weed smokers. Its hard to aviod it, especailly when drunk.

What really discourages me from trying these drugs is the effects those drugs have on society. Weed makes people terribly lazy and unproductive. Most of my friends who smoke it heavily are addicted and have no ambition in life. Its a terrible shame.

i have never found it to be addictive, but then i think it depends on your personality. if they smoke it with tobacco, it could be the tobacco they r addicted to and not the weed, but they dont realise this (if they dont smoke normal ciggarettes that is).

I have never had any interest at all in taking drugs....think it's just the friends I grew up with and know now, in that no one I know takes any sort of drugs or have had the urge to do so! My vice is drinking though, which can be seen as just as much as a danger as drugs!!

drugs suck and anyone who takes them are prats.

I think you are wrong to pass judgement like that. Drugs are no different to alcohol. They can be used and consumed responsibly, or irresponsibly.

Drug dealers are not bothered about their 'customers' as many will tell you at thend of the day there is always someone wanting to buy.

I think you are basing that on prejudice. From my experience, dealers in either small towns, or large cities where the dealing world is competitive are very concerned about the experience of the end user. After all, people who use drugs socially will happily source their drugs elsewhere if they are not happy with the results.

For the record, I can count the number of times I've touched illegal substances on one hand and have fingers to spare. I just happen to have a few friends who choose to live their lives differently.

I have always thought that opinions based purely on secondary sources are less valid that opinions formed based on primary and secondary sources. It is all well and good claiming out right that all drugs are bad... period. If you personally can believe that irrespective of all the facts, and irrespective of your own experience that drugs are all bad then fair enough, good for you. However, that is the not experience of millions of people in this coutry every year.

True, the thing is loads of people have it drummed into them that all drugs are bad full stop. They don't consider differing experiences, etc.
