pre employment checks

hey i've made it past the first stage of a civil service internship, and will be doing pre employment checks soon.

i'm a bit worried about the employment history part. ive got many retail jobs that i can put down though there is one job that i mentioned in my original application that i did online during lockdown for a few months- it was for a family friends company so more like a favour though i was paid for it which is why i consider it a job. i was just wondering if anyone knows if i can put this down on my employment history. i'm only worried because it was quite informal so i dont think i was ever a registered employee- if they run national insurance checks and stuff this definitely wouldnt come up, dont want them to think im lying !!

I find with these things your best being honest. If you leave it out you’ll have a gap in your employment history that you may be asked to explain. If they were to contact this job you did for friends/family would someone confirm you worked there and did the job you said you did? Did you get paid into your bank account? If yes to this I’d put this down in your employment history.

Yes ive still got contact with the director of the company and he said he's happy to provide a reference. It was about 4 years ago so it was paid into a bank account I no longer use, I just know for sure that it would'nt show up on my HMRC records due to how informal it was
