Thought it was a good paper. Kinda felt like the 22 and 23 papers combined as the questions looked very familiar.

i got 1 for sign bit, the mantissa was 111 with a bunch of zeros after it (can't be bothered typing it but enough zeros to make up for the 16 bits) and i got 00000000 for the exponent but i'm not sure that's right 😅

I got that as well I was a bit scared cause the exponent was just zeros😭

it would be 0000 0001 because anything. to the power of 0 would be 1

But isn't 1 what we want? Since the number is -0.111 then we don't want to move the binary point any further as it is already in front of the first 1. Like if we had 0.129 x 100 we would have 0.129 x 1 = 0.129 but if we had 0.129 x 101 we would get 0.129 x 10 = 1.29.

Completely forgot about that.

No because it’s mantissa x base ^ exponent so if the exponent is zero, that leaves mantissa x 1 which is not necessarily 1.
