hi, does anyone have a list of possible questions that could come up on section 2? i’ve only got past paper questions and they don’t tend to repeat those in the culture and identity section.

girl honestly this seems to be the vibe with sociology this year im not convinced anyone has any idea whats going on ahahaha. i managed to get full marks on an essay the other day and i did the structure of:

intro - 4 marks

explain the issue, give examples/statistics, define key terms etc

study - 7 marks

3 key findings + well explained

theories - 14 marks (split up, i try to do contrasting ones unless the question says otherwise because yknow theyre all just so similar ahahaha)

theory one: 2/3 well explained points, provide examples, link to theory and the question

theory two: the same thing

GOOD LUCK!! you've got this x

How much depth do you need to gain full marks on a question? I looked at the SQA candidate evidence marking from a few years ago and someone had a really in-depth answer and only got half marks. Is there something specific you need to include in your answers to get marks?

hi, you just do PEE, the person may have just gained half marks due them not talking about the correct thing.

How did people find the exam? I was so happy seeing the social issues essay question! I did educational attainment (other social issue) because I find that essay much easier to write than social mobility.

Yeah I basically went on about primary and secondary agents of socialisation and how they influence age/gender identity

For the describe 2 findings of folk devil's and morals panics, I talked about what a folk devil was and what a moral panic was. Is that okay?

I'm not exactly sure you would get any marks for that, since you've only defined key terms related to the study, but not described any actual findings from Folk devils and Moral panics by Cohen. I'm not too sure how SQA sociology markers mark things though.
