Oxford Economics and Management

Hello, I was wondering whether Oxford takes into account the subjects you took for GCSE. I am worried that my GCSE subjects may be deemed as easy especially after going to a small private school. My GCSE subjects are Math, Further Math, English literature, English language, Chemistry, Computer Science, Business ,Spanish, HPQ, Food tech, Art. Can I still get into Oxford for Economics and Management? Thankyou in advance xx

Nobody here can tell you whether you can get into Oxford, as that depends on a great many things, and eventually only the academics at any Oxford college which interviews you (if you get that far) can determine the answer to that question. There is nothing wrong with your GCSE choices. Oxford may look briefly at your GCSE grades, but won't be much bothered by the subjects, and will look mainly at things ther than GCSEs. You are studying eight academic subjects, and that's good. Try your best to get good grades, and then choose three A levels in subjects which you are good at, or do the IB. An aptitude for maths may assist you in studying economics, although the maths content of economics degrees varies from university to university. You can check online what various universities say (if anything) about preferences for sixth form subjects.

Please don't fixate on Oxford. It's great to aim high, but only a minority of those candidates who apply to Oxford obtain offers, and not getting into Oxford won't mean that you are no good. Have a look also at the other good universities which offer economics and combinations involving economics.

Work hard, have fun, don't burn out. Good luck!
