Uni Help, Bristol and Manchester for Mech eng

I need help choosing which university i should go to. as an international student reputation is important for me as well as education. I read good things about both universities but im stuck on which to choose. how is the location of both universities and which is considered better for mechanical engineering or is considered to have better reputation. are the locations of both universities safe? If i wanted to transfer after getting my bachelor to a more prestigious university such as imperial which university would be best for that (or which university's First Class Bachelor would give me a higher chance in landing a masters offer in a university like imperial)

Unfortunately your not gunna be able to switch to imperial second yr cause i don't think they do that. However both are excellent universities equally on par, i would pick whichever city is better, or unless one has a much better module selection than the other.

Ever heard of Bristol Aerospace? It was one of the founding companies of aircraft development in the world over 100 years ago! For the choices you have, Bristol is an easy choice to make. They're much better known for engineering in the UK than Manchester. Manchester is bumped up on the world rankings for some reason but it isn't reflected in the UK rankings where there is a significant difference between it and universities like Bristol and Sheffield. In 2021, Bristol was the top university for Aerospace engineering in the UK and now it's just 1% below Imperial College London. Imperial College is an excellent university but you won't be learning anything different to what you would be at Bristol, not to mention the drive to build your own projects and teach yourself above and beyond your course. The only place where Imperial could give you an advantage is in London Finance or consultancy but if you're interested in Engineering then that's likely not the case. For Mechanical engineering, Bristol is slightly lower from the top but still top 5 in the UK for the course. They also have connections to TU Delft in the Netherlands. So if you're a high achieving student, you can take your third year at the QS world rankings 3rd best university in the world for Engineering and Technology! Definitely worth doing if you're after prestige.
I think you're in a fantastic position if you take Bristol and will find yourself making connections with those who will be making real differences in the industry in years to come. I hope that answers your question.

Can see that Imperial and Bristol are pretty much on-par with only 1.3% difference between them whereas the next university down is 10% lower. Manchester can be seen at No.19 with almost 50% lower quality than Bristol.

Finally, I'd just like to say that prestige really doesn't matter. Too many students get snobby about where they went to school and ultimately their boss is going to be someone who took the course 50 places down on the rankings. You asked for prestige so I gave you the snobby answer. But as I was trying to get at with the part about course quality, how employable you are is about what you do at university. If you spend the whole time just studying for the top grade etc like this is still high school, you aren't going to garner as much respect or be as successful as the person who built a jet engine in their shed. Going to Manchester will still give you the same chances as going to Bristol if you strip the prestigious accreditation and realise that these are all students of varying levels of experience and competence and not just a production line of the top people in the world at (insert prestigious university here).
