The Student Room Group

Latest widget moves to next 'page' too readily.

Might just be me annoyed by this one.

I like the new Latest widget on React; swiping rather than clicking next, showing subforum that a thread is under, showing how many replies there have been.

BUT

I find that it scrolls to the next page too easily. I don't know whether it is supposed to do so automatically when you reach the bottom of the list, but I find it loads the next one when I am about two thirds down and am constantly swiping back and forth to view all threads on each page.

This may be a touchscreen issue, where even a little sideways movement when scrolling up and down triggers the 'move to next page' behaviour.

Either way, super annoying.

Hi. Glad you like the new latest widget! It shouldn't be scrolling automatically but, as you said, it might be detecting scrolling down as a swipe right. We do have some control over how sensitive it is to swiping so we might be able to tweak it. Are you using Safari on iOS mobile (you mentioned in a previous post)? Thanks

Yes, Safari on iOS.

I've recently switched phones and it behaves the same on two different screen sizes. So I suspect something to do with my fat fingers rather than the phone or site

Thanks, I'll ask some other people to try it too and see how it is for them. It might need a change. 🙂

I asked some other people in the team to try scrolling on the latest and we weren't seeing an issue with it changing pages I'm afraid. We will keep an eye on this though if anyone else reports it we can try changing the swipe detection.
