Student Finance England - Parents separating

Hello,

If a mum and her partner were separating at this stage in the year, what would be the best thing to do student finance wise? Ie do we complete a current year assessment and have to submit an updated PFF2? How does the mum prove the partner and them are separated if not married? Will they have to wait until the partner has fully moved out to submit?

Hi there,

If they both supported your application then the parent would need to complete a Marital Status Declaration form. If they've both supported your new application, once we get the Marital Status Declaration back with evidence we can remove the other sponsor. The evidence we can accept is:

Decree Nisi or a Conditional Order

Civil Partnership Conditional Order

Solicitors letter on headed paper that confirms current marital status

A Signed Affidavit

Statutory declaration

Council tax bill with an acceptable discount (25% single occupancy)

Thanks, Ross
Hi Ross,

Where can a student/their parents find a Marital Status Declaration form?

Where can a student/their parents find a Marital Status Declaration form?

To locate the form you would need to contact us directly so it can be emailed out.

You can either, access the live chat function on your online account or call 0300 100 0607.

Thanks, Ross
That's great, thank you.
