Plagiarism concerns (please help!)
Hi everyone! (I'm fairly new to this website so please bare with me).
I am in my final year of studying Criminology and Law with the Open University. One of my Law modules was completed in March, and today I have received an email from a disciplinary authority telling me that my second assignment of this module has been pulled for plagiarism. This work was submitted back in February, so first of all, I am a little confused as to why two months have passed before anything was said to me? And secondly, I really am beginning to panic. All my assignments that I have submitted have been completed the same way (ie references both in text and reference list), and nothing has EVER been said to me about my work being plagiarized. I am due to finish my studies this year and my anxiety is through the roof thinking that I am going to fail this module. I don't understand how this can be happening, especially when both in Criminology AND Law, nothing has ever been said about my work being plagiarized. Please can someone give me some advice or reassurance on this or what could happen? As it is almost making me feel sick.

Remember that at this stage, it is suspected plagiarism only.
Until the evidence is laid out in front of you, it's difficult to gauge how serious this is.
I would certainly revisit the assessment to see if anything jumps out at you.
Assuming it looks OK, then I would gather together all of the materials used (notes, articles, drafts, tutor formative feedback, etc).
I would go through everything to make sure things are watertight. Ths will also refamiliarise you with the assessment which is good preparation.
Also, get hold of the OU's academic misconduct regs which will set out the procedure and the possible penalties.
It is frightening to be in the position but you must prepare as well as you can.

My work is similar to other sources, and there is evidence of 'possible plagiarism'. Yet I have looked back at my work and there is absolutely no mention about my referencing or anything else from my tutor, she actually said my referencing is spot on. This assignment was submitted 2 months ago and I have just discovered that the module results are coming out on the 30th, this feels like added stress that I really don't need.

I've just looked at the assignment and the assignment I submitted before that, the style of writing is exactly the same. Anytime I use a source it is always referenced, my tutor's feedback in my work was overall positive. Like I say in my original post, I have been writing the same way in other law modules and criminology modules, and nothing has been said to me. I actually feel sick with this whole thing it's making me feel so stressed, I'm now second guessing whether I want to do my Masters with the OU.

Agree with ageshallnot you now need to get hold of the regs and check out what the procedure is.

Might be worth noting that there are scams aimed at students using plagiarism accusation emails. Would be worth checking to be sure its not that.

When you submit your work, do you not receive a similarity report to show if you have copied someone else's work. You can also plagiarise yourself, by using the same work in more than one assignment. I dont know how the open university worked, but when ever i submitted my work, you would receive a percentage of original work plus highlighted parts where it has been submitted previously. Everyone will get a certain percentage, as it picks up referencing and phrases that are used all the time in essays, like the name of legislation and policy. Without actually seeing what you are referring too, its hard to say.
