Did you enjoy being in a lower set in school?

Say you moved from a higher set to a lower set, did you enjoy being in a low set in school?

Like it depends because sometimes the lower sets have people who are less intrigued in studying like they just mess around and the teachers usually (well in our case), are quite uneducated like they'd have the most random way of teaching

Hi there,

I think it massively depends on the subject. Normally, you want to always aim to be in high sets, as that's where the best opportunities to learn are. There's more content, you can learn from your peers more and the teachers of top sets are normally top set teachers for a reason!

I did get moved from top set Science to a lower set in Secondary due to not doing the triple science GCSE (this was by choice on my end, I struggled with Science in school). With it being a subject I struggled in doing less taxing work and having expectations be slightly lower did help, but could I have got A's if I stayed in top set doing triple - probably.

You have to weigh up the enjoyment factor with the reason you're at school, to learn. School should be fun, of course, but at the right times. It's all about doing as best as you can whilst you have the opportunity to.
